Hi! Can anyone put a name to this bird.  About pidgeon sized. Black and white speckled with long green legs and no I have not been drinking.  OH and I saw it in a car park where it nearly got run over.

Were you near water?

Moorhens are the most common bird with distinctive green legs - seen anywhere you'd usually see ducks in towns.  It's not strictly speckled but it could appear that way...

There are a few other waders but not ones you'd usually see too near to people, but possible if you're near the coast
