Is it still a rule though now?? My understanding is they like to be notified but as it has no bearing on competing as you still can I can't see the big deal.

Cracar, on an open forum such as this one we all get judged based on what we say - not who we are. Behind every statement is a whole bundle of reasons, excuses and justifications which few of us ever bother to write (or read!) so one does have to be a bit careful that the short responses we put 'out there' aren't misleading.

In this event, when the topic is based on a dog losing awards because it's owner didn't know or bother to abide by the rules of dog showing, it's perhaps not advisable to indicate that sometimes those rules can and should be broken.  Whatever you may have meant to say - you rather left it looking like it didn't much matter to you and shouldn't matter to your competitors either.  You were also given the wrong advice - which does need correcting, lest anyone else decide not to declare their bitch has been spayed, for fear of being asked to leave the ring.

> At least I am beginning to understand about the 'witchhunters' are on here that I've heard so much about.

You will get to know who they are and perhaps choose to ignore them. It takes all sorts as they say, and just like in the rest of your life, you won't like everyone you meet.

Try to let it wash over you and take all the good things you get from being on here.

Yes it is a rule.
Regulations for the preparation of dogs for exhibition, rule 3 (c) "Operations to prevent breeding provided that such operations are notified to the Kennel Club before neutered dogs are shown."

Ok, I still think as it has no effect on you being allowed to compete it's not a big deal to me as it's quite different to operating on hereditary ailments but I have no neutered bitches so shall not be a problem to me.

I definitely think it's one of these rues that don't make much difference and perhaps is unnecessary (not sure why it even exists -could it be to avoid fraudulent registration of pups?) -but as long as it is a rule we should comply with it -very easy to do as well as all you need is your vet's signature on the form and a stamp.

Well put, Boody

And I just want to say a big thanks to all the PM's for showing me there are decent folk on here.  What a pity so many have been scared to add their tuppence in topics for fear of being treated the same way I have today.  You 'ladies' should be ashamed of yourselfs but then, the clicks and gangs were one of the reasons I couldn't stand to set foot in a dog show again.  Maybe before you post, knowing that you know-all, you should maybe think what the other person you are tearing into is like.  Maybe not as knowledgeable as you or maybe they just treated showing as a hobby and have other things going on that is far more important so didn't consider it to be the major issue it has been made into.  And as I added quite a few posts ago, I was wrong, I should not have broken the rules but I can't take it back.  What more do you want?

It doesn't make a difference about which class I suppose but I was just trying to point out that I was showing a brilliant but past-it girlie.  She did well when younger but never had the omph after her litter but still loved the showing so I continued to show, getting nowhere, with my girl.  Reason I suppose that I never bothered was she wasn't ever beating anything.

> being treated the same way I have today.

I'm not sure what you mean.  Are you saying it is not acceptable to have a different opinion?  Surely that is what a forum is all about.  I can't see that anyone has been personally abusive or anything of that nature.

You 'ladies' should be ashamed of yourselfs

For pointing out that rules needs to be followed? Wouldn't it have been far worse to say nothing, and then in a couple of years have a similar thread to this one about a CD member's dog -this thread is after all about a dog being stripped of no less than 12 tickets I believe, because the rules were not followed. I'd hate for that to happen to anyone!

>for fear of being treated the same way I have today.

People have merely pointed out that you were passing on (because of yourself being given) incorrect information, which had led you to ignore a regulation. It's hardly offensive to correct misinformation (without using any sarcasm, by the way).

I seem to recall enough threads where you were amongst the 'cliques and gangs' sharing an opinion contrary to other posters to know that this forum is always a two-way street; give and take.
