Where is the most romantic place to go away? Me and the OH are wanting to go away but were not sure where...any ideas?

Lake district can be just the job, hire a log cabin by a lake, light a roaring fire, sit on thick pile rug in front and start by talking with no distraction and a wonderful view.

Do you have any websites Nova? Have you been to one before?

A far flung uninhabited Scottish island would do it for me. Here are some links to some places across the U.K. I don't think there is anything more romantic than having a stroll along the beach with OH holding hands & dogs in tow!
Good luck in your search!

Sorry no web sites and it is years since I went but I have friends of mine who are there right now - believe you can find a similar sort of set up in Scotland as well. Scotland is great for getting away from it all remember a holiday in Southerland when we ran out of food we discovered we were 40 miles from the nearest shops, wonderful peace and quiet.

we spent our first anniversary on the Holy Island, Northumberland. When the tide came in and covered the causeway on an evening the island was deserted. We took a picnic and champagne down to the deserted beach and were even lucky enough to see some seals.

Depends on what you see as romantic I'm afraid! We had a lovely break in Finland last winter, husky sledding / reindeer sleighs / snowmobiling. But you might prefer a more sedentary relaxing in a luxurious hotel type thing!

Try Alistair Sawday's website--http://www.sawdays.co.uk/

I typed in "romantic" and it came up with 3 choices, one of which I can absolutely recommend  having eaten there many times: Llys Medig in Newport, north Pembrokeshire, absolutely fantastic.

I see he has just published a book on dog-friendly places to stay--must put this on my Christmas present list!

How far away are you looking to go? Southern Ireland has some beautiful scenery for a chilled break. Scotland too which has stunning hotels. Italy and Venice are known for their romance.
However, anywhere is romantic if you want it to be ;-)
Top tip - when you book tell them its a special anniversary break....they may leave you a bottle of champers or box of choccies in the room. My friend does it every time her and her chap go away!!!

We are off for a night away on Saturday. We are checking into a posh hotel late afternoon, lazy getting ready with a bottle of champagne in the room then dressed in best bib and tucker we are off to the theatre to see Carmen followed by a nice romantic meal for two. I think so long as it is quality time together it doesn't matter where it is :-)

How come I live in Scotland and nothing romantic ever happens to me?!lol.
- By Sassinak [gb] Date 26.11.11 18:55 UTC
Same reason as I live in Scotland and have probably even less romantic stuff happen :(

I live in Lancashire and the closest I get to romantic is spelling it :-)

Well we've booked to go to butlins with 6 others in the end! Not romantic but Im sure it will be fun all the same. If we have enough pennies we may still do a romantic weekend away.....
