For Boxers or all breeds as a whole?

Granted the classes aren't as huge as whenI started showing over 20 years ago now
Where open shows would regularly attract entries in Boxers of over 40 dogs and 20 dogs was considered
a small entry. Now in Boxers if you have over 10 you are doing well.

I suppose it's a combination of reasons, cost of fuel, costs to show balancing the bank for the normal day to day
running of our households (and boy isn't the weekly shop costs going up) and judges/venues.

The next couple of weekends I will be all showed out...I have shows both days both weekends...
I think I had a momentry blip when entering...lol, this weekend is Cardiff tomorrow (South Wales Boxer Club Ch show)
this will be a long day as they are only running one ring and we probably won't get home til late. Not great would rather
have two rings especially in the winter months as at least you can make a start for home in the daylight.
Only entered as I do like the judge and have never been under them.
Followed by Woking on Sunday for all breed open show.
Following weekend have breed open show in Steventon and an all breed open show in Slough.
But hate to think what the fuel cost is going to be for all shows, cost me £37 to fill up the tank to full from half full.
I do think this is a major factor for people now.

Thanks Nessa for the Good Luck wishes :)

relax and enjoy your day! Wish I had entered as this show has classes for chins but missed the deadline.I'm sure if you pluck up the courage to chat to others you'll find most people are friendly as after all we all have a common interest and I for one could talk about dogs all day long !
Let us know how you got on and if by any chance you are at Slough next weekend for Reading show I'll be more than happy to chat as I will be on my own as hubby has declined to go along.i will be easy to spot as I'll probably have the only chin there as there are no classes for our breed
- By nesstaffy [gb] Date 19.11.11 23:27 UTC
thanks japmum
i've been doing this for over a year now and the nerves still get me lol, same for this show no SBT classes but thought i would do some practice for next show in dec, alas for the reading show missed deadline like you lol, good luck for next week tho and will update on results.

same here for always talking dogs, half the reason i don't talk to people is i'm shy until i get to now people then you can't stop me lol

thanks again and good luck with your class

My Tilly was ok if a bit hyped up so a little playing up in the ring but once she settled down she stood beautifully but as we were in AVNSC we had a mixture of terriers and Tilly was the only staff so wasn't placed out of 9.

Then we entered in AV in catalogue there was only 2 entries but in the end there was 4 so we got reserve which i'm happy with, just wasn't our day in the eye of the judge. All good experience for us both and i did talk to a few people so theres a plus lol.

Just wish people would give her the benefit of mixing with other dogs, alas people gave us a wide berth, one lady was very nice and she mingled with a bichon friese (sp).

Can't wait for the Guildford one in dec have staffy classes so that will be cool
