Why would the dogs progeny be banned for a biting incident? I can see that poor temperament can be inherited but surely it depends why a dog bit and to ban all its offspring seems to be a bit excessive? and what about the next generation, does it follow that the grandchildren (grandpuppies?) would also be banned?

Only a dog's future offspring are barred from registration.

I doubt if they're enforceable, but if you don't pay it then you'll be barred from KC activities until you do!

I think when you sign an entry form you agree to abide by the KC rules so yes they would be enforcible. Bailiffs would only be employed if the KC took the matter to court, it may have happened but I don't know of it - the fines are not high and most people would wish to remain in the show scene so are likely to pay up and be more careful.

Was giving an example of the worse thing that can happen. I should have said future progeny and I guess it is to stop the breeding of animals with a bad temperament.

Really daft and obvious question but does this rule apply if you have handled the judges dog in the ring? (at a show in the past year/6 months).

Don't think it does providing you don't have dogs in partnership, are related to the judge and your dog was not bred by the judge.
