Topic Other Boards / Foo / Any good cat behaviour book suggestions?

Can anyone recommend one (or two)?

I work in animal rescue and have recently been transferred from dogs - which I love and read widely on - to cats, about which I know virtually nothing. (Note to self: a cat lying on its back is not showing either submission or appeasement. Ouch.)

Any good Gwen Bailey/IanDunbar/Stanley Coren feline equivalents out there?

Thanks for all suggestions.

Look for Claire Bessant and Vicky Halls.

Thumbs up for Vicky Halls!
Her books are a great read - entertaining, often very funny, and informative. Would recommend to any cat owner, whether their cat has issues or not.

I understand Sarah Heath is also very good - I can only find reference to one book by her - Why Is My Cat Doing That? but she is highly esteemed in the behavioural world and an APBC member among other distinctions.

Have a look round your local charity shops and 2nd hand bookshops for her other titles, such as Cat Detective and Cat Confidential.

Also do a little search for Celia Haddon's website about cats. She I believe recommends certain books and is very knowledgeable.

I regularly haunt charity shops and it was this quest that caused me to pick up Paul Gallico's 'The Honourable Cat' - which had brilliant reviews on the back.

Drivel.

But now I'm better advised so the search continues.
