Hello everyone. Hope everyone's looking forward to the weekend.

My bitch had her litter two weeks ago now, and is doing fantastically. But one thing that's really starting to exhaust both of us is her toileting habits; she has to go out much more frequently as she's drinking more, which is fine during the day, but some nights she wakes me up two, three, four times. Is this normal? I don't mind as she's doing such a great job, and I put her in this position in the first place, but just wanted to check that this much toileting is normal. She's losing a little bit of dark browny/red discharge when she has to pee, but it doesn't smell and I've heard this is normal.

Would love your thoughts.

Think this is normal, are you still sleeping with her I expect so - it is probable because when she wakes or is woken you are there and she takes the opportunity to relieve herself. When you are able to return to you bed she may well start waiting till she can manage no longer before she wakes you.

I hadn't thought of that Jackie, I'm still sleeping with her as we're staying at my mum's, so we sleep on the floor on an air bed anyway beside her whelping area. I'm glad it's normal, I was a little concerned.

Another tiny question; just wormed the pups for the first time, all had half a mil each as perscribed on the box, it says three consecutive days; is this right? Just want to check I'm not over-dosing them.

Think that is right but have not bred for years and medication changes, if in doubt phone the vet or the manufacture.

If the wormer you are using is panacur then, yes, for 3 days is correct.

The red/drown discharge is also very normal sometimes lasting til 5 weeks or so.

Excellent, thank you very much. What I would do without this forum doesn't bare thinking about!

ive found this very normal (with toileting) my girl would get me up 2-3 times anight to go out i also found she was more relaxed to go out at night because she knew the other dogs were settled and asleep even tho they couldnt get near her and pups in the day...and if shes drinking alot she will need to go out more theres only so much holding on they can do and when the pups are pading away that must make them want to go lol
xx

I hadn't thought of that, LOL! Her poo is a bit sloppy too, but I'm not worried, I gave her some ProKolin so we'll see how that works out.

LOL sloppy poo is normal too, just think what she is eating - on second thoughts perhaps it is best not thought about.

3 days for sure.  I will be weighing my 7 little critturs tomorrow to start their 3 day course.  Mum will be wormed once only, at the normal adult rate.

The first couple blinked eyes at me for the first time this morning.  Awww!  They turn me to mush!  :-)

Half a mil sounds a huge dose to me!  :-)   I'm expecting mine to need about 0.03ml!!!!!

Oh, it said on the box half a mil so that's what I gave; should I half that?

Yep, my lot opened their eyes today and yesterday, it took my breath away!

how much do your pups weigh??? jean has a small breed thats why she only needs to give that amount :)
- By drover [gb] Date 11.11.11 17:23 UTC
This made me laugh...mine dont start worming until they are 14 days on monday...but they all weigh over a kilogram!

I feel lucky...I'm getting a full nights sleep each night, my girl hasnt got a runny bum and would not dream of getting up from her comfy sleeping position to go out at night!

So, wagga, I think its my turn to go nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!

Cheeky cow, start running! ;)

Pups were weighed today and all are around the 600g mark, but I think Jean said this wasn't her normal breed, that's why I was a bit worried I'd gone over.

>but I think Jean said this wasn't her normal breed,

Correct waggamama.  It isn't a litter of Chihuahuas, but it is a small breed.  I know someone assumed it was Collies, but it isn't.

I had forgotten how lovely it is to have puppies.  They are really crawling well, and piddling everywhere.  But when they try to stand, their little legs go all wobbly, like me on Southern Comfort!  LOL!

I can't wait for them to start toddling, so far Timmy gets up on all fours and somehow manages to take a few steps, but I can't imagine the fatties doing it! I'm loving them at the moment...but my vet said to me 'Oh you love them now, when mum is cleaning up after them and feeding them. You wait till they're weaned. All s**t hits the fan.' ;)

Literally!!  If you watched my puppycam in the last 3-4 weeks (though I know you've been busy with your little ones) you'll know he speaks the truth LOL

LOL! I did see, what made me laugh was when I checked in last week and the camera froze on them all asleep for a second...then it unfroze and they were all ripping the place apart, it was so funny!
