Any recommendations? I think it may be best to be right beside the NEC but I may be wrong..I imagine traffic will be mental so to be within walking distance would be beneficial..

Go onto booking.com they have a list of hotel's next to the NEC, best book early!

travelodge had a sale on two weeks ago. we got fri night double room for 15 and sat 25. the sale is still on but it isnt as cheap now.

Are dogs allowed in the rooms tillyandangel? and do they charge per dog?

travellodge charge £20 per dog where as if you look at booking.com or trivargo if you scdroll down on each hotel they will tell you if they take dogs and whether there is a charge or they go free.

last time we stayed over, we had a hotel in coventry, 2 minutes walk from the train station and caught a train straight to NEC :)

There are Days Inn's around that area aswell.

I stay in Days Inn for all other shows during the year but for Crufts my mum & dad treat me to the Hilton as it's always my birthday over Crufts plus I don't ever get a holiday as I spend all my money on the dogs lol so it's kinda like my holiday with my mum aswell :)

I just looked at some of the hotels around the area and not that impressed re: price and accommodation - much happier with travelodge - might try and pay for one dog and as they are the same colour sneak the other in ?  If book early found a family room for £24.83 - so with one dog £44

Although its 12m away the journey to the NEC didn't take long and much more relaxing than our 3 hour drive and means we don't have to get up at 3.30 to ensure no problems with traffic especially as we are again on a weekday!

Most Days Inns do allow dogs, £5 each which is much better than the extortionate rate of travelodge. We use the Michael Wood one for Bath.

We stay at the Ibis. South coventry.  20 mins from NEC. Very dog friendly :-)

just booked holiday inn in Solihull for £55 have to pay £10 for the dog on arrival its 15 mins or less from the NEC so am chuffed.. Booked it with booking.com but the same price comes up on thier website.

Thinking of trying to book one of the hotels directly around the NEC as shown in the schedule.

We haven't had a holiday in over a year and have had a remarkably crap year so maybe that's a good enough vote for the Hilton too hehe ;)

Mind you, does anyone know if the Quality Hotel Coventry is actually close to the NEC? how close? Don't want to be stuck stressing in traffic with my hounds! Being from Dublin, i haven't a clue which hotels are actually close... I've never been to the NEC.

We stayed at Aaron Quince B&B at Kenilworth, there are only 2 rooms but very nice, totally dog friendly and the owner is a wonderful woman--£5 per dog (I had 3) and £45 for the room. Worth every penny!

Nope most of the Days Inn do allow dogs and usually only £5 per stay (not per dog) I would highly recomend them over the Travelodge!
I've found Travelodges to be very shabby recently and always avoid if possible, Days Inn all the way for me :)

It really all depends on what you want to do on the morning of the show.
Do you mind a small drive? Maybe a taxi ride? Or just to wake up, toilet the dogs & walk into the show?

Walking distance, Hilton & Encore, both take dogs in the room, Crown Plaza but they don't take dogs.

Within the NEC area but not walking (short taxi ride which is cheaper than parking & you get dropped at the main doors) Holiday Inn Express which do take dogs, Premier Inn don't take dogs & Arden hotel which i don't know if they take dogs.

Short drive - Depends on how short you want your drive to be.

If you go to page 69 in the schedule you will see where the hotels around the NEC are.

Thanks Gemma! That's what I've been looking at and I'm leaning toward the Hilton... nothing on their site mention sthem accepting pets but the Crufts schedule does and you can book through the Crufts/NEC site. Once the dogs are accepted in the room that makes a big difference :)

I can promise you they accept pets, I've stayed there many times & they'd loose ALOT of money if they didn't accept pets as it's full each Crufts with doggy people & the KC put up the judges in there.

They give you a little hanger for the door which says dogs in room. :)

Well, I think I'm going to book it. Think we deserve a treat this year and plenty of time to put spare money aside!

I wouldn't take it for granted that a booking agent is 100% correct with the facilities of hotels. I've had it on many occasions where the booking agent has the hotel down at OK for pets but infact the hotels didn't accept them.

I would always advise to phone the hotel directly and have it comfirmed before hand, the last thing you want is to turn up at your accomodation at midnight to be told the dogs aren't allowed in.......happened to me once and won't happen again! :)

I have booked with these kind of companies for years.. but have to add that I always go onto the hotel website and check the details and reviews etc before booking.. as sometimes they have an offer on at the hotel you have chosen that is even cheaper than the off at booking or trivargo!!

Add: I have never had a problem with a booking as yet!

The Hilton is nice if you aren't use to "posh" hotels & have little to compare it against. I love it and think it's great for Crufts, it's a great location, just walk out of the rear of the hotel, along the path & your outside the main entrance for the NEC! Does the job for me. :)

Another vote for Days Inn, we stayed in the one on the M40 before a show once and it was lovely, by far the nicest dog friendly services type place we've found. :-)
