Abuse shouted at female dog walkers (Wells)

Police are appealing for witnesses after two women were intimidated while walking their dogs in Wells.

Between 4pm and 5pm on Monday October 24, the women were walking a Doberman dog on the old railway line running behind the leisure centre in Wells. They were approached by a man who picked up the dog and shouted abuse at the women.

The women also had abuse shouted at them by the same man while they were walking the dog between 3pm and 3.30pm on Friday October 28, 2011.

An investigation is underway and a 44-year-old man has been arrested, interviewed and released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Police believe that both of these incidents would have been witnessed by other dog walkers and passers-by. Anyone with information which could help the investigation should contact Avon and Somerset Police on 101. Alternatively, phone the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111. They never ask your name or trace your call.

why on earth would he pick up their dog?still,their are a few loonies out there.he was lucky he didnt get bitten!

Well I've taken it on board as I'm only a few miles away from there, but TBH I can't help wondering where the police were when I was getting abuse almost on a daily basis whenever I walked my dog.... They were totally uninterested... Not in this area though.

Yes, no dobermann I know would allow an intimidating stranger near let alone pick it up, so i can only assume it was a puppy.
