Topic Other Boards / Foo / Help with gift idea for 15yr old boy
- By sugar [gb] Date 08.11.11 15:16 UTC
I am buying a gift for a 15yr old boy who I don't know and only have a brief idea of his interests - Xbox , football , drawing , rugby , the simpsons and pop music. The limit to spend is £10 . Has anyone any suggestions of what to buy as i've never had to buy for a boy in this age range before.

Thanks, Kate

I would suggest a gift card from somewhere like Game or Tesco etc which could go towards an Xbox game. That way he can choose a game that he wants himself.

Or an i-tunes voucher for music - but I think the minimum value they come is £15 (only if he has an i-pod).

I agree 100% with the above! I have a 17 year old son. I, of all people should know what his interests are!!! But i still get it wrong. Teenagers can be a fussy bunch in this day & age.

Great ideas thank you both. But I think i'm supposed to be sending an actual present that can be wrapped and then opened at Christmas. It's for the Post Pals charity and it's designed so that each child has a present of equal value to open.

Probably should have explained more in original post! Otherwise I'd be definately going with your ideas :)

This should solve all your problems; enough to make him smile and a bit funky, but little and personal too. :)

If all else fails, and it can't be a voucher of some sort, a plain black or white t-shirt is usually acceptable.  Jelly beans are another favourite (with my 16yr old son at least), and chocolate won't go amiss either.

Avoid jokey/blokey stuff as far as possible but something useful like a memory stick isn't a bad option if you're struggling :)

In possible to buy for their tastes by this age so a gift voucher would be best, especially one of those that can be used in a whole host of outlets.

Like the idea of a memory stick if you know he is into computers and at school ( not sure where  in the world the charity operates ) Jelly beans if you can send food items
Have a look in a good artists suppliers and see if they can recommend anything that is general for drawing
Just had a look interesting charity I guess its uk  young people.

You mentioned he liked drawing in your original post. Don't know if you are near a big Tesco but our one certainly has lots of art materials by known manufacturers (so not cheap rubbish) at reasonable prices eg. artists pads, paints, coloured pencils etc etc. I would say they are much more reasonably priced than a specialist art supply shop.

If you have a Sportsworld store near you (or via online) you might well find something football or rugby related for the price limit of £10.

To be honest I bet he would prefer the cash in a card !
