I have an 8 month old girl here and wondered what age you all considered to be the best age to get a young bitch hip scored.
She hasn't yet had a season so obviously have no idea when that will come along, although the bitches in her lines usually come in at around 10months.
Do you think seasons affect the score of a bitch and what age would you get a bitch scored? Would you go for 12 months old or wait a little longer?

ive had 1 girl done at 1year old and 1 at 16m old both from same dam/sire. litter sisters and both had same score so for me i dont think it matters to much but wouldnt have it done just before a seasons due or just after ive read it can alter muscle tone not sure if this is right but i wouldnt take the chance. x

Personally I think they may do as statistically bitches score worse than males.

It is probably wise to score between seasons.  Personally I feel no hurry to score a bitch as long as it is done in plenty of time before you plan to breed from them. 

Just checked and my most recent girl was done at 18 months (had pups at 2 1/2), her half sister 16 months (had litter at 2 years), their mother 17 months (bred from at 3 years 3 months).

Bear in mind in USA you cna only have a preliminary score under 2 years.
