Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / advice on nutrical/drops please

hi there my girl is 6 weeks pregnant and we are very excited and getting everything ready for whelping.
think we have just about everything, probably too much but all for the 'just in case' situation.
my question is about nutrical or drops, i have read about them but not sure where to buy them as i want the best.
also, i have heard whelpi is good to have, but told can only get from the vets then saw it on ebay! will this be the right stuff???

i am very excited and nervous, i have read the book of the bitch about 100 times, cover to cover, i am also a surgical theatre nurse so used to delivering babies but not puppies.

our girl is 3 years old and her first litter, she is on worming satchets now as 40 days plus now, we have waited 18 months for this to happen, seems to go so quickly.

great reading all the posts, very informative and a good insight.
thanks for reading.

I use vet drops and get all my stuff from Canine Chemist/Hyperdrug, very helpful staff if you have any queries, prices good too.

http://www.hyperdrug.co.uk/Canine-Chemist/departments/16/

Be careful which wormer you use, last time I checked the only one licenced for use in canine pregnancy is Panacur 10%, given daily from day 42 through to 2 days post whelp and again when the pups are wormed at 2,5,8 and 12 weeks.

i will look at the website you suggest.

i hope i can come and ask questions during this exciting but nerve racking time :-)

Hi,
Royal Canin babydog is available in a small tin from vet uk. It's great to have  just incase of emergency and includes
bottles with different size teats they also do nutri drops, wormers etc and are very reliable with a very fast delivery time.
Good luck.x

Your vet will be charging you extra!  :-)

I agree that hyperdrug is where a lot of us get our whelping requirements.  They are well established, and very helpful.  So, when you come to worm your pups, don't buy from your vet!  :-)

If ordering just Panacur 10% they don't even charge P&P.

Too right.

My vet was almost double.  i bought it from PaH.

We do get loads, but better safe than sorry, like you say.

Just reading through all the old posts whilst waiting for the puppies.

I bought Panacur 10% from vets, its was £27 for 100ml! Joke!! I then brought 200ml from Hyperdrug at £36 inc p&p. I then went to our local Scats the day we ordered and found it was £14 for 100ml, doh!! At least we got it though :)

????????

Hyperdrug do not charge P&P for wormers.

Current price for 100ml is £15.29

I always  use  hyper chemist  own  brands, and  for  when  pups  need  worming  i  find the  panacur  paste a  lot  easier  to  administer, i would  advise  buying  hyperchemist nutridrops and  colostrom  pack:)  good  luck

They most certainly do.  Have just received some wormers and £2.12 Carriage and handling is on my invoice.

:)

Wow!  Suppose I should be glad then, that I stocked up prior to them changing their policy!  I didn't know that they had started charging!

Sorry I realised after re-reading that could have sounded really snotty and I didn't mean it that way.

Maybe it has changed recently.  But even so they're still cheaper than elsewhere.

They charged me p&p, thought I was getting a great deal until I found it at £14 just up the road from me, tut tut! Lol!
