I was given an ipod docking station for xmas with a years guarantee from argos, however the receipt has since been lost and the docking station has started cutting itself off mid song. Does anyone know if I can get it swapped or replaced without a receipt??

You don't need a receipt just proof of purchase and that can be a person who was with you when you bought it or a bank statement.....in fact anything that proves you bought it from there and when

You can try it....I'm not sure what their policy is. If they offer to repair they are within their legal rights they don't have to exchange. Personally I would take it back and see what their attitude is.

As far as I'm aware it isn't a legal requirement to take it back in the box.

My daughter took her Dyson back to Argos after about 6 months because it didn't pick up well. They exchanged it for a new one with no questions asked

Have you been in touch with Vax themselves? They have on their products to contact them and not the point of purchase with any problems.  I love my old type cylinder Vax that I got from Argos a number of months ago.

When you buy something from a shop you enter into a sales agreement with the shop and not the manufacturer. I wouldn't consider contacting the manufacturer directly and would always go back to the shop I bought the item from it's their responsibility to correct the fault, replace the item or give a refund.

Recent problem with a mobile that I bought from Argos in May of this year.Rather than send it back to Nokia Argos sent it to a company they use to assess damage. This company claimed 'liquid ingress' which I challenged at my local store.Argos then claimed the damage was not covered under Manufacturers Warranty.I went directly to Nokia and explained what had happened. They arranged pick up and repair of the phone.Dreadful service from Argos I'll never buy from these jokers again.

Normally I'd agree with you CB but Vax have in all the years I've known my family to purchase their products (30 years or so) have always had in big writing on their products that they will deal with any problems.  Never had any problems so don't know what their service is like.

I agree there are always exceptions to the rule and if Vax are good thats fine but if you go to the manufacturer and they don't repair or replace to your satisfaction you have nowhere to go.

Just from a legal point of view the shop has to either repair, replace or refund. I guess it's whatever suits the individual which way they go with it, manufacturer or seller.

thing is,i agree that on the product it says dont return to the shop, contact vax instead, now, will argos use this as an escape route lol,i really wish i never bought another vax now, after the trouble of my old one, never mind, will have a go today,i just pray i can exchange it for a different one, otherwise if i have to wait for vax everytime,my home is going to be stinking with dohg hair :)
