Topic Dog Boards / Showing / its going to be chaos
- By selgovae [gb] Date 24.10.11 21:56 UTC
is it just me or does anyone else going to scottish working and pastoral breeds think its going to be chaos. I've just had confirmation from fosse data that passes will not be sent out. My next question... How do i know my bench number. Answer look in your catalogue or ask a steward. Hmmmmmm. Lots more questions follow. How do i collect my pre paid catalogue without a voucher? Why did i pay nfc for one of my dogs when i could have taken him in free of charge. I assume i wont need a removal pass. ...........

am wondering same as u but its for gundog breeds champ show its my first champ so am wondering about benching ,passes etc etc i enterd by mail so will my bench numb be in with passes etc ????????
- By Brainless [gb] Date 25.10.11 09:33 UTC
I'm assuming there has been a problem over the OP's show re printing and posting passes.

Normally you will get your passes in the post if you did a postal entry, and your passes have the bench number and there is usually an info sheet re rings and benching areas for your breed.

Do you not have to print them off yourself? Had to do this a couple of times this year, but can't remember which shows now. City of Birmingham comes to mind. But I could be wrong.

You do, but the link isn't up yet for GBAS

Thats for Highampress/dog.biz entries, W&PB of Scotland is Fosse which I don't think has online passes
I'm not going myself but did wonder how people would find their benching, especially those that don't get catalogues like me!
- By JAY15 [gb] Date 25.10.11 18:38 UTC
You are right, Gemma86, Fossedata send them out--I think the only thing to do is either arrive in good time to ask at the show secretary's tent or look for a kindly soul with a catalogue :)

Great thats going to be a fun show then - NOT. Dont fancy carrying crate, bag, chairs etc with no idea which direction to go in. We wont even know our ring number either then! Good point re catalogues, how are they going to know who has prepaid? Do we need proof of ID to pick them up?
- By STARRYEYES Date 25.10.11 20:10 UTC
isnt this the show where they have tables set up at the door and you have to give you name and breed.. I havent done this show for a while.. or am I getting confused?
- By Goldmali Date 25.10.11 20:18 UTC
Surely they can do what is done at all cat shows. You arrive, go to the table at the entrance, give your surname and is then handed an envelope with catalogue voucher, details of what classes you have entered, any extra passes etc.
- By selgovae [gb] Date 25.10.11 20:27 UTC
just been told there are no prepaid catalogues at this show so queue to gey in queue to see the steward  or queue to buy a cat. I just hope the order of judging is in the dog press

It's a long time since we exhibited at W&P Breeds of Scotland but from what I remember there was no chaos. There are no passes or pre paid catalogues at BUBA and it certainly is not chaos there either.
- By selgovae [gb] Date 26.10.11 10:23 UTC
this is the first year that passes havent been sent. Its the first champ show i've ever been to(and I've been to a few lol) that i havent had an entry pass. How does it work at buba? What should i expect?

At BUBA we just go in, buy a catalogue (never been a queue) and take it from there. Honestly never had a problem.

What a con to get people to shell out for a catalogue!
I totally disagree with that, passes should be sent out so people who don't want a catalogue so they know what their numbers are before hand, jeese louise.........we pay £20+ per entry and they cut their costs on paper & postage when it's judges expenses that should be looked into.

ETA: Sorry not having a rant a you Henri3402, just at the show :)

You can always ask to have a squizz at someone else's catalogue ... ;-)

I don't think it's a con, I buy a catalogue anyway, you can imagine how many I have from the last 21 years!!!!

As said above, you can always look at someone else's catalogue or you could ask one of the many officials who will be around.

But when I've paid £20+ per entry the last thing I want to be doing with all my gear & dogs in tow is look for some one with a catalogue. It's just a bit annoying to be honest, at the price WE pay to enter shows which keeps going up, they cut costs on things we use.

I just like to be prepared and always have Ring Number, Judge time & dogs bench numbers written down on the front of my passes lol
- By Henri3402 [gb] Date 26.10.11 19:53 UTC
Yes Gemma86 I too like to be prepared. We're lucky at BUBA as parking is so close, one of us goes in first, gets catalogue, puts crates and bag on benches then gets dogs and other person!!  I think the older I'm getting less and less bothers me. Same as club shows, no passes there either. Can honestly say that in over 21 years of showing we've never had a problem with shows where no passes are sent out.
- By judgedredd [gb] Date 27.10.11 05:36 UTC
i go to buba and i do not get a catalogue i go to the table tell them my name write my numbers down on a piece of paper and off to my benches, and there is never a queue the first time i went to buba did not know what to expect but everything ran smoothly great show
- By Henri3402 [gb] Date 27.10.11 08:26 UTC
Totally agree Judgedredd, in all the years we've been going it's been super, never had a problem.
- By STARRYEYES Date 27.10.11 09:34 UTC
olly wolly.. dont panic and let these post put you off going to the show... just go to the table and ask... I am sure you will be fine ..enjoy the day and good luck!!
- By Susiebell [gb] Date 27.10.11 12:03 UTC
At National gundog there  no passeds but the stewards told us what hanger we were in and then there were lists by breed up on the wall.  I put all my stuff on my bench then went to buy a catalogue.  Maybe they'll have one with your surname on waiting for you if you prepaid
