Topic Dog Boards / Health / Brace for cruciate inj

As you know my old lady Granny Pepsi has ruptured her cruciate. She is doing very well with pain relief and rest and is putting a reasonable amount of weight through the leg. We are happy that she is not in much pain and are trying to avoid surgery if at all possible as she is not a great candidate. (Longish recovery and heavy girl with arthritis already).
I have been prowling the net and looking at getting her a brace. They are used quite a lot in the states and with apparent good results. Has anyone got any expierience of them? They are very expensive (Not a problem) but I want to know how much good it would be for her before I shell out the best part of £900. Pepsi is not insured as her premiums are expensive for a nearly 10 year old Bernese!  I have looked at the web site of the olny company in UK that I can find "Orthopets" and the video's of patients look very encouraging. I would welcome any thought you may have.
Thanks Aileen

Yes thanks have spoken to 2 people who have used it and had good reports. She is doing very well at the moment anyway and is getting around fine.
