Just wanted some advice on a situation, I know a lady who is a "dog hoarder' if you like. She has around 15 dogs it could be more I'm not quite sure.
She is having litters from these dogs, she always has puppies for sale.
They are very well fed are her dogs but they never get let out so they do their business in the house, she came out yesterday to show me a new puppy that she had bought! Yes another! And it's feet were wet through with urine and the poor thing absolutely stank!!
Is there anything I can do or who would the best people to ring?
I don't want to get her in to trouble but this lady clearly needs help!!!

So the dogs are obviously overcrowded in the house, are never get let out, stink of urine, have urine soaked feet which obviously leadsmtomother horrible and painful conditions and are being left to breed freely in those circumstances...but you dont know what to do and dont want to get her into trouble?
I will be gentle here....firstly I think this woman needs some help both physically and possibly mentally if she cannot see whats wrong in what shes doing....secondly can you honestly say you dont know what to do or is it that you just cant face it?
Is she a good friend which makes it very difficult but then again if that were so you would have been aware of this situation some time and I hope you werent. You can have a very straight word in her ear about the dogs welfare and offer your help or you need to get help. If you do not feel you can go directly to an animal welfare organisation and she is over 50 and you feel she is neglecting her own welfare as well as her dogs which to be honest she is if they are toiletting in the house, you can go to your local branch of Age Uk and tell them the situation is urgent and you have to leave it in their hands to investigate or support her and dont leave any of your own contact details so that they have to take it up or/ and you can contact social services adult help desk.
Please do something, this is a terribly sad situation for both the woman and the dogs and expected puppies. If this is a litter of 10 puppies you will soon be looking at 25 or more dogs running around in the house.
Having no natural sunlight will affect their skin, no natural light affect their eyes, ...did you notice their nails if they are not going out on walks...their pads...heaven knows what their joints are like...what diet they are on...
Please do something...maybe start today by knocking on her door to offer some help and to see how bad the situation is to help you make the move...

I have tried speaking to her already but she doesn't get the message! She's a very highly strung lady and she takes everything so offensive!!! She's had the housing officer to her door as one of the workmen reported the smell in the house but never took it any further which I think is totally wrong!! She doesn't think her dogs are in bad condition but believe me I think otherwise. Their legs are urine stained and their claws are overgrown. Buyers of the puppies are never allowed in the house they stand in the garden so that says it all.
I feel so sorry for these puppies but I'm new to this area where I live and that's the reason I don't want her to find out it's me that's reported her.
If I can report it to the RSPCA anonymously then I will.
I would personally take them out of the house my self if I could!!!

I will ring in the morning and see it just hurts the fact that she's bringing more and more puppies in the house!!! I have 3 dogs and 3 is my limit!!! I couldn't cope with anymore..

Terrible,you need to callthe council as well if she'sbreeding as she needs a licence for 2 or more bitches so might help prevent her. Call animal agencies as well for more help as quite often they will try to leave the dogs with her but help with sorting out the care arraangements.

Not necessarily. The national law is still that anyone producing more than 4 litters per year needs to be licenced, regardless of the number of bitches they have.

4 litters per year!!! She must produce around 10 at least!!! I'll ring up in the morning, and will let you know how it goes

It might be worth Googling her, or her address and tel no, to see if people have ever written complaints or taken action against her.  It's surprising what appears online if you are prepared to have a rummage and it could give you a bit of background or an idea about who to approach next.

Iv scoured google and absolutely nothing! :-( but just going to ring the authorities now! Wish me luck!!!

Sorted :-) RSPCA will be paying a visit. Let's hope they don't go back on their word and do a visit!!
