Does anyone use this and if so is it worth purchasing?
- By tigran [gb] Date 15.10.11 18:31 UTC
I use Ped ex, think its the same thing.!. Did not buy it as share a copy with my showing partner and would not be without it. Particularly if like me you are a pedigree geek.

i have its great and i think well worth the price you can keep all your dogs details in one place.
just make sure to make back ups so you dont loose information if computer breaks.

We have Breed Mate, similar kind of thing. We've had it for about 17 years, love it.

I have breeders assistant and used to find it invaluable for pedigrees, although now tend to use our online database for the BCs as its so good. However I  have just started to keep track of a new breed in breeders assistant and I am sure I will find it has been worth the money once more.

I have used BA for many years and have both the dog version and the cat version. I find it invaluable and love the fact I can personalise my pedigrees so much, all mine have a watermark background which is one of my own photos. I tried various others but didn't find anything else I got on with, in particular not the American ones which had too much irrelevant stuff in them. Apart from the actual pedigrees I have all my puppy buyers' contact details in BA, hip scores, dates of eye tests etc. I find I use it far more frequently than any address book I have, whenever I need an address, phone number or e-mail address it's in BA I look first. I also use the Trial Matings function a lot to see what a pedigree would look like, what inbreeding percentage I'd get etc -of course it wasn't long ago there was no Mate Select. In any event I find BA's inbreeding percentages far more accurate than Mate select's ones.

I bought the Pedigree Assistant from the same folk as breeders assistant but slightly cheaper. I love it for working out the COI etc of a possible litter :-)

I have Beeders Assistant and love it to bits I have two breeds on mine although its time consuming inputting a lot of pedigrees I was able to import what I had from the old Kennel Club database they did

I loved inputting all of the info into Breed Mate, even when my computer died and I had to start over!!!!! (if you do go for it then don't make the mistake I did - take regular back ups.)
