Hi there,

I was thinking of maybe going to Ireland for a week or two road trip next summer and i was wondering what shows there are to enter across there, what months would be best etc?

Anyone have info that would be fab

thanks

The 'Irish Circuit' is in August with championship shows every other day over a course of a week.  many UK exhibitors take the opportunity to shows and have a small holiday, doing the holiday stuff on the off days.

Hi There,

Here are the links to the irish show scene information.

www.dogshowentry.ie  Enter shows and schedules

www.showdogsireland.com

www.irishcaninepress.com

www.ikc.ie

If you want to pack as many shows in, within a week, then the Munster Circuit is the one to do. There are 4 shows, even 5, depending on what breed you have, in one week.

The Irish Shows are under FCI, so diff than the KC ones. You have to register your dog with the IKC first before entering.
The Munster Circuit is all in Kerry and Limerick and one in Clonmel, Tipperary. It starts on the Sunday, or the Saturday, depending if you have a breed for the specific show on the Saturday as the Navan show is usually a Group Show, so not all breeds are on.

If you want anymore info, just shout.

Oh im not too sure about registration, maybe give them a call, but let the phone ring for ages as they are terrible for answering the phone.

If you're registering with the IKC now would be a good time I think. I applied and received my two registrations within days! I've heard it can take months from various people.

really!! Thats good to know. Well i will have a pup to reg aswel, but shes currently only 3 weeks old!! So will have to wait till shes reg with the KC first!

Once i have paid the 20 euro and reg them is that for life?

Also is there anyone that can advise on good accomidation that will accept 4 pugs?...maybe 5?... Maybe a cabin or something? We dont mind being based in one place then travelling to the other shows. I dont fancy camping, my naughty boy would bark at the smallest of noises, he thinks hes a guard dog...and not a pug.

many thanks

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is. :)

Scotgal,

If you go to ww.daft.ie and the holiday home section, there are loads in Kerry and most of them take dogs if you ask.

Also, try putting a search in for pet friendly self catering Kerry and you should get a few sites up too.

Hope this helps.

Your all so helpful!

Would Kerry be the best 'base' for the week?

Self catering etc etc is better than a hotel or camping, as i mentioned before about the vocal brat!

Kerry is gorgeous :)

Ive just found a fab cottage! Open fire and a big enclosed gardens and accepts dogs!

Now i just need to find out the dates of all the shows and i will book it!

Im in the middle of filling out the IKC forms and it asks to list there 5 gen...which i have done, but they also ask for 'no' which im thinking is the dogs KC number , how am i meant to find out all there numbers?!
- By supercooper [ie] Date 14.10.11 12:32 UTC
Scotsgal, Kerry is fab, my favourite place in Ireland and im from the capital, so i love Kerry. So many things to see and do. Inch Beach is a must, great place for the dogs, you can drive right down onto the beach and let the dogs off.

Im assuming the number would be on their KC papers, wouldnt it?

The dates afaik are 18th-25th August. Seemingly its a week later next year due to the Olympics or something??
- By inka [ie] Date 14.10.11 12:52 UTC
I didn't fill out the 'no' section for my dogs and they approved the applications.

Are any of the Kerry shows 'open' grade? I love Kerry and could probably convince my better half to come down there for a show and holiday, he's not into dog shows so combining with a holiday may be my best bet :D
- By scotgal2009 [gb] Date 14.10.11 15:01 UTC
my dogs numbers are on his papers yes but there asking all there generation numbers to! So i think i will have to leave that blank!

Thanks for all your advice, i will start getting stuff sorted, even tho its like 10 months away time passes by to quickly!
- By supercooper [ie] Date 14.10.11 15:08 UTC
Oh im not sure about the registration side of it, you might need to double check with the IKC maybe.

No, all the shows that week are Champ ones, no open shows unfortunately.
