Hi does anyone drive or know the make of a small car that could fit a Dobermann......either a largish boot ....... or back seat that turns over and gives you a flat floor

I'm driving a Citroen Saxo at the moment. The back seat folds right down, but it is raised slightly, so not a level sleeping area for the dog. I have a cage set on the folded down back seat and can fit another dog between the cage and the boot door. I have Large Munsterlanders, so similar size to your Dobermann.

It's a 1.2L engine and was bought for my 17 year old daughter to learn to drive in. She hasn't even sat behind the steering wheel yet, and she was 17 in April, so I get to drive it for a bit longer. ;-)

The Fiat Punto is great, fold down the back seats and I've had 4 dogs in there! (a german shepherd, a x, and 2 collies!) plenty of room for a dobe :-)

We just bought a punto as our polo died.  I can't believe how great it is!!  Such a fab car to drive and I fit 3 spaniels in the boot easy.  Ours cost £700 and is a 1.2 petrol and is getting 50mpg average.  Parts, tax, insurance all a lot cheaper than the polo so I am a happy chappie!

yes, they're fantastic, only reason we sold ours was that the snow can be really bad here so we got a Subaru... also a good car :-)

I had a skoda fabia which folds down and had a reasonable boot but currently have a honda jazz. The advantage of the Jazz is that if you lift the back seats the underside folds up giving a large gsd sized walk in space behind the front seats and you still retain your boot. I can probably get 2 gsd in the back of the car easily and the bonus is no dirty seats just the floor to hoover

Toyota Yaris, good on fuel with plenty of space when seats are flattened.

I'd second the Yaris, if I can comfortably fit a great dane in the boot with the rear seat as far forward as possible for short journeys and the seats folded over for longer ones a dobie will be no problem.

Exciting isn't it, we have just started looking for a small car and are leaning towards the Kia Picanto, anyone have one and what do they think of it.

I don't have a Picanto, but an elderly lady from our club is on her second one and loves them. Reliable, cheap and economical to run.

Was shocked to find that some models are free from road tax and do well over 50 mpg, can't be bad.

The Toyota Yaris Verso is quite spacious being squared off at the back and the back seats fold down into the floor if required.

My boxer goes in the boot of my mums yaris. But of course the seats do fold flat to give extra room if required.

Hi after weeks of looking at all sorts of cars I have finally decided to go for a Skoda fabia..... want one no older than 09 so now all I need is a bargin lol so thanks again for the replies

I have a picanto and I really love it as it is cheap to run and ideal for nipping into town etc but the boot is very small and when the back seat is folded down it doesn't lie completeley flat and so wouldn't be suitable for a large dog.I can fit a small fabric crate on the back seat but drive a much larger car when I need to take all five dogs out with me.
The five of mine together are about the size of a dobe!
