I recently visited friends who have the most beautiful deep golden/red retriever which they say is the product of an Irish Setter and a Golden Retriever. My friend thinks that this is now a recognised breed known as an Irish Retriever. Can anyone advise if this is the case and where I might find out more information on potential breeders/availability of puppies.
My email address is emmaomulloy@aol.com
I would be most grateful for any advice/information anyone is able to offer.
Hi Guest, I can say with 100% certainty that there is no such breed as an Irish Retriever. Therefor, there can be no breeders. I don't condone crossing anything with my beloved Irish Setters. Sorry, I know that is not what you wanted to hear, but there you have it. Dawn R.

It may have been a normal golden retriever from a "working strain" as a lot of the working strains of goldens were usually a deep golden/red colour. Dot
A lot of Goldend full stop used to be rich deep golden in colour. In fact that used to be the norm! These very pale Goldens are relatively new development!
