We are trying to raise money for a new kitchen in our Village Hall by holding an auction of promises. In addition to the usual things like babysitting or shopping trips etc I'm planning to offer some dog based ones but don't know what value to put on them - can you help?
3 x 1 hr dog walks, includes basic reward based training (value £xx per hour)
2 x kennel drop off/collect for up to 2 dogs/cats within a 10 mile radius (value £xx per trip)
1 x 3 hr dog sitting inc short walk if required for up to 2 dogs (value £xx per hour)
Also can you think of any others that might be useful to the average pet owner? Can you see any pitfalls I might need to cover myself for in the description? I'm fairly certain that people will only bid if they already know me and my dogs as I can't imagine booking a complete stranger for something they've no idea I'm capable of delivering... or perhaps I'm wrong

Could you ask a local groomer for a groom...or even the vet for a free health check...(had to edit as I reread it is an auction of promises..:-) )
Good luck with your Auction..
Cheers

CRB checked and also insured to be in control and carry others pets is one i'd be looking for.
I'm not sure of the type or value of overall auction items your looking for but one thing does spring to mind. How about knitted doggy jumpers? Is there anyone locally who can knit? My lot love theirs and i have a job and a half to remove them for the wash. They become sulky teenagers and don't want to take them off!!

and are you innsured, especially to carry dogs in a vehicle for hire or reward?

Even if your not a groomer, you could offer to bath and dry a dog?
Hmm it's a tricky one, I want to be able to help and to offer something useful but I'm not prepared to expose myself (or dogs) to unnecessary risk. I don't have insurance. I have had a CRB check some years ago when I did some training work for Social Services but I don't have a copy and I assume it's out of date anyway...
There are lots of offers of babysitting and lifts to the airport (for people) already on the list and I doubt that they have insurance, or checks. I have walked village dogs before as a favour - owner in hospital, late home from work etc - and rather thought this would just be an extension of that sort of gesture. The auction is only for village residents and I think that most people know me and my dogs and wouldn't bid if they didn't want me to do it.
Maybe I need to think again
