Can anyone with a red coated dog let me know how they deal with sun fading and what products/methods they use to minimise this?
Have heard oiling is good (Plush puppy seabreeze oil diluted 1/5 and spritzed on) as well as the plush puppy sunscreen spray, but any other suggestions/methods please let me know!

The sun bleaches the liver/red coats, only thing you can do is keep out of strong sun I should have thought.
Yeah thats the main way, but I don't want to have to restrict my dog in order to keep a darker coat, which is why I'm looking for other options to minimise the worst of the damage :)
Heck! sorry to be nosy, but are these red dogs all the same breed or does the sun bleach all red coated dogs - I have a red fawn - and I like him that way!!
I only know of it causing issues in the hairies - aussies, BCs, saints etc?

In Flatcoats if people that show their dogs want to keep the nice rich liver then they do keep them out off strong sun.

doesnt matter so much in a week or two when autumn/ winter comes in full but during the summer months when outside you would need to use a cooler coat.My friend has show springers this has always been her nightmare ..she has tried most things but covering up is the only thing that works.
