hi just little update on milly and her pup,dalek is 3 weeks old tomm he is up walking around ,eyes open,teeth throw he is going to be liver roan,milly is doing great she had mastits so been at vet ,its all cleared up milly getting spayed once dalek weaned , dalek wee sweetie he is trying to play with cats he will follow me around living room he has just started playing with toys ,we are getting him trained for gun and same with milly

You should wait a while before getting her spayed till her organs have had time to return to normal,it makes the surgery less vascular too, she won't want a pup jumping all over her either and he won't understand why not.

How are you going to register the pup if the sire is unknown? Or are you registering on the KC activity register?

milly and dalek are getting reg for companion dog shows i have phoned kc and asked what we could do with them they are sending me reg forms,milly show name will be grove tardis ,dalek is grove torchwood,
dalek daddy is springer ,he is going to be liver roan

You know they don't need to be registered at all to do companion shows :-) At some shows they may have one class that is only for companion club members - not sure that's worth registering them for.

Also, the KC being the KC they will probably not let you repeat the 'Grove' part in both names unless you register it as an affix. It's worth a try but be prepared to have a second choice you like too.

So does that make him a Sprointer or a Poinger? Lol..
BTW they don't have to be registered to compete in companion shows.

milly is sprointer,not sure what dalek is mums sprionter and dads springer .i did not now they did not have to be reg theirs no harm filling forms in and sending them back,also been in touch with locol gun dog trainer to get milly and dalek trained for gun

Great name theme,I am total pants with names.With our litter we had an Ice theme eg our affix then Ice Krystal,Ice in the Sun(hubby was a Quo fan)

Correct me if im wrong but im pretty sure cross breeds cannot compete in field trials not sure about working tests but i doubt it. Pointers and spaniels work in completely different ways, agility / obedience etc and on shoots shouldnt be a problem though.

Oh, I had no idea - assume crosses were fine like they are for obedience and agility - sorry!

I got the impression it was the Companion Dog Club where you just fill in your dogs' details on the form when joining and get a certificate saying the dogs are part of the CDC. No rules as to names or anything (but for the activities register you cannot repeat a word), and only entitles them to take part in CDC classes at companion shows, not anything else.
