Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Crufts ex-racer class

Does anyone know if an Irish dog based in Ireland needs to be registered with the English KC in order to be eligible for this class? Or is membership of the IKC enough?

Does any dog entering Crufts in any class from a different country to England require registration with the English KC?

it will need and ATC (Authority To Compete) number that you apply for to the KC http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/download/11581/Form-14.pdf to be able to show here.

do you mean along with the Irish kc registration it only requires an ATC, or that it must be registered with the English Kc, Irish kc, and have an ATC number? Crufts have no info online about this and their replies to my questions have been vague to say the least.

IKC and ATC, You need to go to the Kennel Club site not Crufts, that's just the show.

You will need to check the qualification (whether you will be able to enter this show) for Crufts, as it is the one show you need to qualify for.

You cannot register a dog with the UK Kennel club unless it is domiciled here, hence the ATC number.

Mind you, the kennel club uk site says that

''Please note: the rules regarding obtaining an Authority to Compete (ATC) number do not apply to exhibitors or competitors from the Republic of Ireland or the Channel Islands.
''

Oh dear, appologies, I thought they had been brought in line.  I think your best bet is to contact the KC and ask to speak someone in the shows and awards department if there is nothiing clear on-line.

Got to be honest here - I've checked the KC site, Crufts site, emailed Crufts etc and cannot for the life of me find any information regarding whether I need to be registered with both Kc's, one KC, need an ATC, don't need an ATC...and so on.

From what I've also read a greyhound, in order to be eligible for entry to this class , must be registered with the KC (no mention of which one) and the GBGB or NCC. Mine are with the NCC so all I potentially need is to get an ATC or UK KC membership.

I can't find any entries online about eligibility etc.

This thread has added considerably to my confusion!

Well in the past as Ireland (and the UK Islands) was the only country that had free travel to UK they simply allowed you to register a dog with British Kennel club even though not domiciled here, so I am assuming they still allow it, even though for other countries now allowed in, they introduced the ATC.

So as the link says you apply to register an imported dog using form 4, Just google Kennel club forms and the Page with them all on will come up, (that's where I got the ATC one for you)

I am sure that Irish dogs don't need to have the British KC registration too but of course we need the Irish to show in Ireland.  I registered one of my dogs years ago and never ever got the papers

Perrodeagua, do you mean you registered your dog with the IKC but never received a response? Did you follow it up? that's terrible customer service.
- By inka [ie] Date 21.09.11 09:21 UTC
LOL that form is more expensive than the ATC. So much paperwork ahead of me ha!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 21.09.11 09:43 UTC
I have two of mine registered with the IKC in 2004, and the paperwork is lovely so much nicer than ours.

Their breeders certificates for a champion are interesting and A3 size.

Inka you will need an IKC registraion and 3 generation pedigree in order to regsiter as an imported dog.

Inka I never bothered going back again with my dog so didn't bother getting in touch with them.  Though at some point will want to register others so hope their customer service is better nowadays.

My IKC registrations are back in about 7 days :) And if luck enough to win one, the Irish Ch Ceritificates are very smart as well :)
