I had some PAH vouchers so got some blocks of frozen tripe, when defrosted it was like a combination of grey underfloor felt  & unrecognisable mush. The dogs ate it but I'm sure there must be some better tripe out there - any recommendations please.

I like the tripe I order either from Berriewoods or Albion, nothing like you mention, great when bulk buying as well as the price gets cheaper..

The free flow minces are better more chunky.

I think they do those at PAH or they use too.

I use Landywoods tripe.

I use landywoods tripe too, not wet at all, has a proper texture to it.  I dont like any of the AMP blocks, they are all like mush.

Tripe from Dog Food Company here... very smelly and lumpy, just like what you would imagine from an animal's stomach.

I stopped buying it from PaH, mine were turning their noses up at their favourite.  just tried it again and it went in the bin.  Even my GR only ate a bit.  I'll try some of the other places

Sheeps tripes are not as nice as Cow tripes..more smelly & ours dont like sheep tripe..we insist on cow tripe from our supplier.

Albion here too. This time have bought some bags of chunky tripe as well as the mince, but haven't opened them yet.

Sort of off-topic-ish but my local Morrisons had vacuum packed portions of "Real Lancashire Tripe" (lol) for human consumption yesterday. We are way down saarf here, no surprise then that they were in the reduced section at 29p each for just under 1lb weight, unsold :) I know the bleached white tripe isn't as nutritious for dogs as the green, but mine didn't care too much at that price... it's still edible, they said.

We always have the chunky tripe from Albion. I just cut it up smaller for our little dogs and the big ones eat it as it is. I don't ever find it mushy.

Where can you get Albion  as I don't have a large freezer now to store large amounts.

Unfortunately Albion have a minimum order of 60 odd kilos.

I fit a months worth from landywoods in a under the counter freezer.

In reply to peppe regarding Albion tripe, there is a company called Blendbetter who sell Albion tripe and many more dog, cat, and animal foods,i know because i buy from them, and they have no minimum order,have a delivery once or in some areas twice in the month.

They are based in Carlisle and deliver to certain parts of scotland, and parts of northern England,and the north east. charge for delivery £1.50.

I get my tripe from Albion and I'm sure I don't have 60 kg, more like 40.

Not sure how you manage that? Maybe you don't get a discount? We go by their on-line statement here

It might be worth contacting Albion to see if they already deliver in your area. If so, they might perhaps tack on a smaller amount for you, if you have room for it.

I have now tried their Chunky Tripe and goodness, there was more than the usual anticipation here while it was thawing out, and it disappeared in seconds! I was out most of the day on Saturday and when I got home I realised I hadn't taken any mince out of the freezer - the chunks defrosted very fast and saved the day.

I'm sure that's not right, its something like that or a certain amount of dosh to be spent, which is easily done tbh.. I think they said something about spreading the amount over the months as well.. Call them up and ask..

I know that Prize Choice offer tripe in the 'over minced' state you describe but it is green tripe and your dogs will get the same benefit from it as the chunky version.  However they also sell it in a free flow or chunky version too and it's stocked by a lot of pet food shops including small independents.

You can have a closer look at the range here and check their home delivery options and search for stockists.  I usually buy tripe from TPMS as part of my regular order but I'm happy to feed PrizeChoice when travelling or to tide me over between deliveries - even though the minced versions are a bit too fine to seem satisfying, it sometimes looks more like mousse or pate!!

I'll check tomorrow when I order from them. It's certainly what they say on their website (see my earlier link) I have a large chest freezer and generally use that much so it's not an issue for us. I'll ask them and post their response on here.

Agree, if you ask them at Albion they will tell you what they can do for you. I asked them today while I was making my order and they said it's definitely weight - 68 kilos of frozen meat, and not based on money. (I think basing it on money would be better personally as you could include your Bonios, wild bird food etc for example but hey ho)

But they might do a smaller amount if you live en route to somewhere they are going anyway - apparently it's at the manager's discretion. They also suggested that sometimes people get together to make up the amount.
