Sadie is a little better today and showing intrest in food,they are suspecting a severe tummy upset,if she continues to improve she can come home 2moro,if I have any more emergencies for my lot,I will take them to vet medics in manchester,Heard excellent reports about it,fingers crossed Sadie will continue to improve,

She has had two meals today,and is very perky,he said that he still wants to monitor her for another 24 hours,no further bloods have been taken as yet,

Sadie has had alot of diarrhoa,this morning,I am going up to the vets this afternoon see if she would be better off at home as she was barking and moaning yesterday wanting to come home,I am in tears,please God help her.

Chin up girl. You'll be having a much earned cuddle before you know it. Could you leave an old smelly jumper of yours with her so that it has your smell on it. It may comfort her in your absence.

When my cat stinks had a very bad injury and had to have her jaw rebuilt she was in for about 10 days and didn't eat and was throughly miserable  . In the end both myself and the vet agreed that I should take her home and she would have either continued not eating and would have passed away or would pick up.

It was a gamble but thought it an option that we must try and force feeding her wasnt helping at all.

When she returned she was put straight into a crate with a bowl of food and she polished the lot off and made a great recovery.

I would get her home as I  sure it will help.

I am going to see her in a hour,so glad I am thinking the same as you,looks like I will be bringing her home with advice from the vet,I have just been told that a local dog has been in the same vets and they rang this morning and told them she must of died during the night of a heart attack,got to get her out of there ,I know its a gamble.

No its not a gamble, she will be much better at home with you. The only reason to leave her would be if she was on a drip. She needs to be at home with you. My Vet has said to me before now when my dog needed monitoring but not medicating, 'she is better off with you at home'. She may well be fretting which won't help matters. Good luck, you both deserve a break. Unfortunately a lot of vets do not do overnight cover themselves. Thankfully my vet does but can still be called away to their other surgery in Southport and so dogs are not being monitored permanently. You can watch her better.

Brought her home my mind was made up,poor girl was behind two closed doors in the basement,usual vet was off so spoke to the locum and he agreed with me that she needed to be at home,she is very depressed and has passed alot of diarrhoa,bright yellow.I am sure the antibiotics are upsetting her tummy,as she has only had two small meals in a week,what should I do,when she went in for xrays on monday her poo was starting to be more solid,she doesnt really recognise us,all I know is thank god she is at home.

Haven't liked to post while your girl has been an inpatient but she's now safely home with you, I will. Do you know if your vet surgery has staff present overnight when they have inpatients ?
It's a bug of mine that the majority of vets (ie Tier 2) do NOT have staff present overnight when they have patients entrusted to their care for treatment/observation. Neither do they volunteer this information unless the client specificly asks. At a Tier 3 veterinary hospital there has to be staff on the premises 24/7.
What I'd like to know is, if a pet is kept in for observation etc, how can this be done if there is no one there !!!
Never would I leave a pet of mine in again unless I was sure there were night staff present.

I had agut feeling she wasn't being checked,when I asked they said a nurse calls in during the night a few times to check,thats why Idecided to bring her home how does the vet know whats going on when he is not there,I suspect she was never checked during the night,poor girl she is very weak and hungry,I am ringing another vet now whom I spoke to from a differnt practice for advice,he told me to ring anytime if I am concerned.

Just take her there and see what they say. They can phone the other vets but may want to start from the beginning again and do test etc. Take a sample of her poo and wee as well if you can :-)

Any new Vet can just get the records faxed over, you don't need to speak to your old vet at any time. If your gut instinct tells you to move then go with it. How is Sadie this morning.?

Hi she is a bit brighter,I have given her some very soft whit rice wth Chicken,she woolfed it down,with give her a littl more after lunch,fingers crossed she keeps it down,if so I suspect the antibiotics have been upsetting her tummy,so I havent given her any this am,I rang to speak to Austin he's not available at the mo,told them that I wasnt very happy with whats gone on,at this stage I think a refferal may be a option,the one thing I know is that it was the best thing I have ever done is bring her home,she will never be left overnight again it really has upset her,oh she has medicine to coat her tummy,what a palava getting her to have that,I am frightened to change vets I hear good and bad reports about most

Seems like she could be on the up then. Great news, hope she continues to do well.

That sounds alot more positive which is very good news. If she is showing signs of hunger that is always a good sign that a LAN is feeling better :-)

Hi Sadie much improved,still eating small amounts 4x a day,had to go to work last night till 8am this morning hated going but needs must so hubbie cared for her last ngt,he text me to say she had got in her basket,I was thrilled as she would only rest outside or on wooden floor,she wanted to go for a walk this am when she saw Andy with coat and wellies on,she is still weak so only the garden for her at the mo,all I can do  is give her my very best as always.Austin has just rang I told him straight that I knew she had been neglected,poor girl had been stuck in the crate for 4 days without hardly any interaction with anyone,he said it was isolation,I said solitry confinment,this would be abuse were I work .our Sadie HAD been left and they must of been very long days and nights for her,she had lost the will to live and didnt even know me,he was taken back but understood,Iam still upset about this matter but relieved she is safe in my care,thank you both for taking the time to care.

Hi she was poorly yesterday,I was dreading taking her to the vets,he has put her on heart tablets,however her tummy is settling down couldnt believe it,when comming out of the vets she pulled me over to some grass and did a normal poo,what a relief.She appears to be a little brighter today and ran up to the gate barking at her two whippet friends but then she flopped down,I have various dog beds and vet beds all over the house to make her as comfy as possible,haveto take her to vets on Friday,he hopes that she will be much better as the tablets should show a good improvment,
