Beef stew, making soup, good TV is back and it's Christmas, winter must be on it's way :(
Not so long back it was grow bags, cracked heels and holiday cottages that take dogs :)
Could somebody slow the year down please cos I've only just sorted my heels and I've got tomato plants loaded with green fruit that probably won't go red :(

So, what you are really saying Pinky is that we need a thread for recipies for green tomatoes? ;-)

Ohh yum yum....fried green tomatoes.....
You're right- sorry I started the TV thread! I have hardly any tomatos left as the dogs keep knocking them off, couldn't understand why I had no strawberries until I saw one of my girlies commando crawling under the bench, on to the wall and helping herself, the green ones she spat out!
So, time to plan the holiday, decide if I'm going to buy hubby a valentines card and what Easter Eggs the kids ( 21& 26!) want. Then it will be nearly summer and Pimms time gain!!

And now you've put the year on fast forward and I'm nearly at my next birthday you bad girl :(
And yes recipes for green toms would be good, if we must do this warm cuddly thing :)

Anyone else got one?
Aileen

Do you have enough green toms to make chutney? I may be able to dig out one of my mum's old recipes.
Bit too early for rib-sticking stews just yet I think, well in the south at least ;) Won't be thinking of them til the local new potatoes end, and it's time to order a sack of big dirty ones for jacket spuds.

">yes please recipes would be great.
Great idea, recipes for all sort of things.
Soups
Stews
Casseroles
Cakes and puddings especially as I'm doing my xmas cake soon and I don't like the big hard dark ones, I'm more of a fruity Dundee type thing.
Plus every recipe possible for apples as they're everywhere, it's been a bumper crop this year.
Now where did I put my wooden spoon and mixing bowl and I wonder if my aunt's 45yr old Kenwood can make it through another year......

Some great tomato recipes in this months Gardeners World, including a Fried Green tomato one and a gorgeous Jamie Oliver recipe whic preserves them in oil for a couple of weeks - sounds scrummy, but not had time to try it yet.

The recipe sounds gorgeous, Jamie Oliver OK - but if we are talking about delicious chefs - James Martin gets a big YUMMY from be! :)
