Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / to scan or not to scan...

Hi all, my bitch was mated 12th August so 3 weeks 2 days into her pregnancy, if she is indeed pregnant as we only managed one tie as the dog lost interest at the next meeting..

I have never scanned before, but am considering doing so this time, as the room we used last time has since been made into a playroom, so we will need to rearrange the house to give her somewhere quiet and private. I am not too bothered about finding out numbers just a yay or nay to pregnancy, she hides her pregnancies well, I didn't know for sure until she was 7 weeks with her last litter of 10... When is the best time to scan to get an accurate scan???

thanks
Lucy

About 4 ½ weeks normally.

I intend to wait till nearer 6 weeks, if the signs of pregnancy still persist, when I am due to start worming and puppy food before scanning to ensure there is a viable pregnancy after so many phantoms which disappear at that stage.

If you want to know numbers, a scanner told me that the best time is 4-4.5 weeks.
