We have just given a home to Ruby, Ziva's mum (ziva is our 8 month old lab). She is a lovely dog but is very over weight and still has a very baggy under carriage from having a litter in Jan.

My question is, how would I go about toning her under carriage up? Is it just a case of plenty of exercise and losing weight or do some dogs never tone up.

how many litters has she had?  it may depend, 8 months is a long time to still be in this condition sadly :-(

she has only had the one litter. I did think that she should have been in better condition by now as like i said she is still very baggy. She is only 3 so i'm hoping she's young enough to get toned up properly again and if she isn't i'll love her all the same :)

oh, I'd have expected her to have had a lot more - or to be back to normal by now, my bitches you can't tell they've had pups 8 months later

so what would you suggest? plenty of exercise and a diet? Do you think theres a chance she'll go back to normal?

Lose weight certainly, increase exercise gradually and see how she goes - I can only say see how she goes, sounds like she has a loving home with you and perhaps didn't have one before :-(

she's certainly got a loving home here :). She will eventually be working but think i may have to wait 6 - 12 months so i can get her fit first.
Thanks for your advise :)
