Hi My 10 year old GSp had a funny turn last week. She got up from her bed & fell over , her legs went completely rigid. Her eyes were flickering from side to side. She was not foaming at the mouth or lost control of her bladder or bowels. She seemed frightened but after about 2 minutes she was back to normal. She had one of these "turns" about 5 years ago. This is her 2nd attack. Is it similiar to Spikes desease as seen in the border terriers? Has anyone experienced this with their dog?

Wonder if it may be lack of blood to the brain (canine stroke) was the head held to one side for a while?  There are tablets available to sort this so best speak to your vet.

It sounds rather like an attack of vestibular syndrome - the flickering eyes are characteristic.

Sounds like what we call a TIA or mini stroke in humans, can last a few minutes or a few hours and suddenly reverts back to normal when what ever was causing the blockage of the blood supply clears.

I would take her to the vet and get her checked out, a friend of mines old cocker had mini strokes and was treated with a daily childs aspirin and they stopped and one night 3yrs later she died peacefully in her sleep in bed with her owner.
