hi, can anybody please translate the following critique for me as I don't quite understand it :) thx

"stuffier in neck and shoulders than I like"
- By Lexy [gb] Date 11.09.11 15:28 UTC
I would say, perhaps the judge wants a longer more elegant neck which might flow into the shoulders more??
Withough knowing the breed or dog concerned it would be hard to comment more

Would agree Lexy, dog lacks the elegance the judge requires in the neck and shoulders. Whether of not that is what the standard calls for only those aware of the breed could say.

could mean slightly heavier than they prefer

thank you! its a mini schnauzer...and breed standard says nothing about elegant... :)

The breed standard says under Neck :"Moderately long, strong and slightly arched; skin close to throat; neck set cleanly on shoulders". Perhaps the skin is currently somewhat looser than desired, or the neck slightly too short?

Then I would suggest that the dog in question is 'loaded' in the neck and shoulder too heavy (thick set) in build - the standard asks for the neck to me moderately long, strong and slightly arched - set cleanly on shoulders.

It is difficult to explain what is meant without having a selection of animals in front of you and it is possible that one persons 'stuffie' is another's well built.

Or could also be that the dog in question might be slightly carrying too much
weight and sometimes it can appear that the dog can be stuffy in neck or shoulders...

Thanks a lot everyone, so it basically can mean anything... :D

No, it means the neck and shoulders are not as the judge would wish to see on that particular breed, and stuffy to me means the structure of that dog is not refined enough. True a fat dog can look stuffy but once handled the judge would know the difference and in that case would say that the exhibit would benefit from loosing some weight.
