Today we found a young cat she is wearing no collar and no micro chip so atm she is staying in my daughters room the only just about animal free space lol
Our vet has the details and tomorrow we must set aboout finding somewhere for her to go until hopefully she is claimed.
Any suggestions as to who I can contact would be helpful. I will ring cats protection and any other vets around where we found her but cant think of who else.
Suggestions greatfully recieved
Hope we can find her home quickly as I really cant have another animal and we are all falling for her

Thank you lel have done vets battersea who apparently hold a national register for lost cats and dogs. cats protection and about to do posters and another rescue. Cats protection are considering if I can foster her for now as they have no spaces.
Trouble is the family are trying to twist my arm to keep her so if anyone is in need of a lovely young cat probably been around dogs and very friendly if I cant find her owners please pm me

How do you know the cat is 'lost' as opposed to just wandering around?

I 'found' a kitten a few years back. The poor little thing appeared to be starving and desperate to get in my house, so I assumed he was 'lost'. I took him in, fed him and if it wasn't for my mum going door-to-door to see if somebody had a kitten matching his description, I'd have never found out he belonged to my neighbour. He wasn't 'lost' he was just a little pig for food that enjoyed human company and would go around looking for people to pet him.

Only a couple of weeks ago I 'found' an adult cat. It was stuck ontop of my neighbours porch, meawing it's head off. I got her down and she was trying to get in my hosue. She appeared to be 'lost', but I left her outside, it took her about an hour before she gave up trying to get my attention and wandered off down the road, she only lives a few doors away.

It may be a better idea to go door-to-door inthe area she was found in to find ehr owners. I personally would not bring a cat into my home, unless it was injured and needed medicle attention (then, I'd just take it to the vet).

Trouble was she was in the middle of a busy main road which runs through the middle of the common. It would be difficult to know where to satrt with door knocking given that nearest houses are on the other side of the common quite a distance although I know cats wander. Have been back down in the area to see if there are any notices and shall be putting some found ones up. yes I agree it is difficult to know if she was really lost but I dont think she would have lasted long walking along a main road.
Have been to the vets but unfortunately except for checking the chip there is nothing more they can offer. My only experinence of finding an injured cat and taking it to the vet it was immediately pts as I couldnt pay for the treatment which could have been substantial.
It strikes me that with this kind of thing whatever you choose to do could be wrong  but could hardly leave her in danger from traffic or some of the undesirable people that are around that area.
I would add its not the first time I have found a cat fortunately previous ones have been repatriated back to greatful owners.
