Our last Labrador pups (one was a swimmer, if you remember but developed perfectly normally) were due to go to new homes around Christmas time so we didn't advertise - didn't want any to be bought as Christmas presents. We gave three to the National Organisation for the Blind here in Spain and took them ourselves to see their new school near Madrid.
We were very impressed with their installations - underfloor heating for the pups, operating theatre, recovery wing, lots of room and all beautifully clean and well organised.
Donating pups to be trained as guide dogs for the blind or the deaf or as support dogs for invalid people is another option open to us and the donation is very gratefully received as there is always a waiting list for dogs, at least in Spain. What's the situation in other countries?
Hi Tingle, hope your pups do well there. Where abouts in Spain are you? I`m down in San Roque :) Whats your affix?

We're in Tarragona. Haven't got an affix because we never intended to become regular breeders. We've had two litters and the second was an accident. We imported the dogs from Yorkshire, Stormley Amego and Pumerang Senorita (they were supposed to be Amigo and SeƱorita but Marjorie Booth didn't get the spelling right). They're beautiful dogs and live with us as pets. They're 8 and 9 years old now. When we need a new pup, we'll come to see you in San Roque. What's your affix?
I thought the end of your addy might stand for Tarragona, typical isn`t it!!! :) Your miles away from us, nearer to France, but I believe its a lovely place. Went to see my mum when she was on holiday a few yrs back in Benidorm but have been to Alicante a few times for shows. One of my bitches lives there as well (Alicante) and thats the closest I`ve been to Tarragona. I`m El Chaparral Oakwood and not far from Gibraltar. I was in contact with an English man from the guide dogs a few yrs back, called Brian? Stock, can`t recall his first name now tho. Have you shown your 2 at all over here? Nice names :)

Christine, my sons showed them once in Tarragona. Stormley got an excellent, coming second to a Kowalski lab and Pumerang, alone in the puppy class!, got a no-ring because she wouldn't let the judge see her teeth!! That story of the Italian judge and the lone labrador pup has been told many times and had everybody rolling in the aisles.
Have you got a web page? Nothing comes up on Google.
Hi Tingle, me have a web page???? Can barely manage the pc never mind a web page :) Keep promising myself one but haven`t got round to it yet. Mind I`ve only had a litter every 2 yrs & not expecting any in the near future but I`ll get round to one sometime it`s just I can always find better use for me money at the mo.. Well done for Stormley! I know Kowalski, he is Anton Luis, the president of the Spanish Ret. Club & he lives not far from you in Alicante. He`s got a few bitches from my line.
Bet you had a laugh when your pup wouldn`t let the judge see her mouth, poor thing :) never mind, it happened to me at the last show I went to with my young one :) . Did your sons enjoy showing? I take the g/son & he enjoys himself.

Well, you can imagine how my 12-year-old, showing his first dog, felt alone in the ring with this Italian judge and a 4-month-old pup with her mouth clenched tightly shut and everybody around waiting expectantly. If the earth had opened and swallowed him up, it would have done him a favour. Never again, he said!!!
The only dog in the ring and she was disqualified!!
He must have been upset, poor lad! Mind the judge was a bit harsh for a puppy, they are usually given a bit of leeway. No wonder he said never again. Tingle just a thought tho, pups can only be shown older than 5mths so maybe it was her age?
