My bitch mated with tie on day 10, 12 & 14. We are now on day 16 and she is still standing, my experienced male is telling me she is still ready, should i return to the stud for another covering?

In my experience, my dog tells me the exact time when the bitch needs mating but often goes nuts 3 or 4 days later again. ( he hasnt mated them, rather an outside stud has)
I suspect a hormonal change occurs when the sperm meets the eggs which sets off my stud dog to react this way. I take it as a promising sign.

If your stud was telling you the earlier days were the right ones, this may be the case here too.

Thanks, it's a strange one. My original plan was to use my own boy as stud but he was not interested at all and i was concerned that it was because he lives with her, hence my decision to visit an outside stud (similar lines to my boy) and i did not want to risk her going over.
As i said, she had successful ties on these days and my boy was not interested at all, yet now he is telling me she is ready. I've not heard of males becoming interested when egs fertilized...very interesting and I do hope that is why he is interested.

Males are often interested, in fact beside themselves as bitches are about to go over, as they know they will miss their chance.

In that case I may be tempted to try again. I thought your dog had signaled the early days.

Thanks for the replies, I have just phoned the stud owner and arranged to go back this afternoon. Its only a few miles up the road and I would be forever kicking myself if I didnt take her back and it turns out she didnt get pregnant.

My entire boy was also interesed after a couple of sucessful ties.But I found that the bitch by this time had enough.I put it down to hormonal changes.

Just back from the stud and got another 25 minute tie. I wont mate her again, now only time will tell if we were successful.
The only down side to having another mating is her due date is now spread over 5 days!

edit: will the scan be able to tell which mating she took from?
