My bitch was blood tested yesterday, results back today and her levels are 48! We are heading off for a mating now tho have a 4 hour drive. Do u think we may have missed her?

No, I don't think so but others might.

The guy at the lab reckons she ovulated Saturday night, maybe Sun morning so tonight will be 4 days post ovulation.

You might just catch her, or she may be going over.

You may be lucky - fingers crossed you are.

Well just to update. We didn't do another mating today as we have had a cytology done and she has gone completely over! I think we may well have missed the boat, am gutted!

Can anyone help me with cytology interpretation? The lady said that her cells had all gone back to their normal state indicating she had gone over but she also said that she may still have some eggs alive. How cld some if the eggs still be alive if she's gone over?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 01.09.11 13:26 UTC
The eggs ripen and live for two to three days, that would not alter what is going  on re the cells.

To be honest I would not bother with the cytology as it's the hormone levels that give the most accurate results, and these told you that the bitch had most likely ovulated 4 days before mating, so you may have caught the eggs just before they died, but maybe not, time will tell.

Thanks Barbara, that makes sense now.
