If you are flying 2 dogs( smallish  breed) from usa over to the uk do they need seperate crates and would you  be charged for   2 seperate flights. My friend emailed me to ask me this morning what i thought and i have no idea. They are not coming from a breeder,my friend is moving back from houston to england. It wont be until next feb so it will be easier.

As far as I know you need two crates, don't think anything else is legal.

You can only fly two puppioes under 3 months of age in one crate.

would there be a price for booking 2 dogs on a flight or does that not make a difference?

They will need two crates and if flying into UK they will need to come via Cargo by an approved flier and into an approved airport. Check Defra for more details.  You can't bring them to the UK as 'luggage' although if you want them to travel on the flight their people are on they'll need to fly to France/Holland as they can come in on Delta or similar as 'excess baggage' and then travel across to UK.  The travel company will give details of the crates/food/forms etc that are needed in addition to the pet passport - much easier next Feb than now, but I don't think they've said anything about changing the cargo requirements.

A friend recently imported a dog of 20kg plus 10kg crate to Heathrow and the Cargo and associated charges were over £1000!

I flew back with My Inka (using American Airlines) in December for flat $150 per dog each way as excess baggage, but as said above flew back to Brussels and then hubby picked us up by car.

It was cheaper to pay for the Ferry/Tunnel and fuel than to go cargo, as I was flying anyway (my return flight was around £750.
