Hi, Is anybody else having problems getting a Kennel Name? I think I heard on the grapevine, if you register a name with the ISDS the KC have to follow - does anyone know if this is true?

No its not true. People pay an annual maintanence to protect their Kennel name, if the ISDS name is the same as someones protected KC name then they will not be able to use it as their KC name
Yes I understand and agree with this, I would not want my Kennel Name/ISDS Name used elsewhere. But I am really at my wits end. Everytime I suggest a name the KC are rejecting it. I could understand if the names are longwinded etc. I just want a simple name on both ISDS and KC.

It can be a problem finding an original KC name that you like as there are so many. You could try ringing them up and talking it through with someone as it would be easier than submitting names and them being rejected all the time however as you are trying to find one that suits both registeries it is going to be harder unfortunately. Unusual spellings are more likely to accepted than straight forward ones.

Had no problem with mine but it is a made up word not an existing one so I would suggest making up a word and be a little quirky with the spelling. (Being quirky with spelling comes naturally to me :-) )
We listed six and the one we got was the very last on our list (luckily my fave). I would group two words together like I did (Marvelmarch), a tip is that if you put Ever in front of a word it sounds good.

I liked a popular name,which I new i didn't stand a chance of getting,so converted it into the Cornish language - Simples.

:-) :-)
I had the same idea as you Jackie, and wanted a made up name that meant nothing at all.
I would advise anyone making up a name to actually google it before sending off their suggestions.
It was after mine had been accepted that I found it that it was some type of amoeba!
Years later, I'm amazed that nobody has ever asked me JEAN WHY? :-)
I would advise anyone making up a name to actually google it before sending off their suggestions. For years if you Googled Goldmali, you got me and nothing else. Now you get lots of websites about buying cheap gold from a place called Mali!! But that is not half as bad as my cat prefix Blondbella (made up from two cats' names -Blondie and Bella) that I chose years before the internet existed. Now it's often seen as something quite nasty!

If you Google mine ( and dont link it to dogs) up comes thousands of Dutch/Belgian companies, singers, footballers etc.
Teach me to name it after my Dutch warm blood horse....but as you say Marianne, pre internet these things didnt occur to us.
I get told by clients if they google me get they an ehm, naughty website!!! Shock horror!!
Must be such a disappointment when I turn up in mud covered boots, jeans, t-shirts and a big black bag full of dog treats!! Still ya gotta have a giggle bad enough my surname is summers!! Think I've heard every joke going about a well known line of shops!!

Mine comes up with some poets/writers in South Eastern European/Balkan countries.
Mine comes up with our facebook page, and a huge thread on a breed specific forum following my bitch's pregnancy!
