Hey, I have a one year old Pomaranian and I just got her in December for Christmas. Her previous owner has passed away and I got her from the family. The family has no idea how the pup was trianed and or what ques the pup was tought. I am a new dog owner and not real sure how to go about training her. She is pretty well manored and listens okay, but the potty trianing has been rough. She is crate trained and loves to be outside. Since she is older, isn't it harder to train them. What do I do?????

Hi Emily, I am talking about training in all aspects, potty training and the simple commands such as sit and come, lay down.............I don't know what commands her previous owner has tought her. The Potty training has been going well, we are finally on a uphill for that. Any advice you can give would be a big help, sorry I wasn't much more clear. Later, Alexa :)

Go back to basics take her out, go with her try using a command like go potty see if that does anything as some ppl do train their dogs to go when told. If not then just go out with her and praise her when she goes potty outside, she will soon get the hang of it.

We had a pommie dog at 2 yrs old and he was a bit slow on the uptake I think simply because he wasn't sure where he could go outside but once we'd put him on the patio rather than grass he would go fine. Spoke with his breeder and it turned out they played on the garden but were trained for the toilet on the patio nearer the house as puppies so always went there before they got to the grassed area.

Schip, thank you so much for the advice. I have begun to pick up on signs when she needs to go out. And the longer we have her we are noticing that she was either let outside to run a lot if not all the time or let to poop and pee in the house. Taddie tends to be more of an outdoor dog then she is as a tiny little apartment dog, but I guess it is all in how they are raised. I think in time we will figure her out, but thanks agian for the advice.
