Hi guys, hope you can help!!
Today, when I came downstairs, my 12 week old Bichon Frisé puppy, Ozzy was struggling to go to the toilet.
I am home with my sibling as my older sister and parents are working.
Our last 2 dogs have never had constipation before so I have no idea how to handle the situation..
Ozzy is in a lot of pain, and cannot even walk. i hate seeing him like this!!
Can someone please give me some advice on what to do?

Is there any chance he has eaten anything that may be causing him a blockage? I would be ringing a vet if he is in a lot of pain especially in such a young pup.

12 weeks is just a baby.  Vet, definitely.

Sooner rather than later.

This is probably advice too late to be effective but it's really important that you have a strategy in place for future.  You don't say how old you are but I assume from your post that you aren't the primary decision maker for the care of your dog?  And perhaps you don't drive?

Do make sure that you have an agreed process to contact your parents and a vet, if/when you are worried about your dog.  I realise that you don't want to call them home for no reason but puppies can easily get into trouble and go downhill very quickly.  You need contact tel numbers and a method of getting your dog to the vet if your parent can't get back in time.  Perhaps you could ask them to leave emergency taxi money in a safe place.  I would try and remember to do this with my children before they had their own bank cards - just in case they needed it.  Luckily they've never had to make quick medical decisions but it's worth being prepared if you are to be left at home with the dog on a regular basis.

I do hope that you were able to get to the vet this time and that everything is OK with your puppy.  Do let us know :)

I hope you managed to get the pup sorted out as constipation is no joke in animals or humans.
