Topic Dog Boards / General / Cool Coats, where to buy?

Hi,

I have seen chamois type coats that you wet and the condensation keeps your dog cool, but do not know a brand or where to buy them?  Also is it true that these cost about £50? Please help, I have an old dog who really feels the heat.

My friend bought one for about £36.00 for a dog that's nearly 20".  Animalbargains I think were selling them but they've changed their name now, some items they have sales on frequently.

We have 7 cool coats, 6 of one type and one Easidri, the Easidri is far and away the better one of the ones I have.  It stays wetter for about 4 times longer than the other type.  I bought it at a show, I think it was just under £30.  I'm sure if you google it you'll get more info.

Internet and most shows, even if you do end up paying over the odds, believe me its worth EVERY penny .

Totally agree, worth every penny, all of my FBs have one.  I don't think they are expensive for the job they do, just surprised that more people don't have one when you see dogs at shows clearly uncomfortable in the heat.  I've had dozens of people in other breeds stop me at shows and ask about them.

I bought mine at Bournemouth ( it was very warm!) special show offer of £28. My boy is a bit of a woose and I thought he would kick up a fuss about wearing it but he was as good as gold. When we were travelling home with the caravan he normally takes a while to settle and is a bit panty but even my husbnad ( who said they were a gimmick and a waste of money) had to admit he settled straight away and seemed very comfortable- wish I'd bought one years ago.

The address on my packaging is www.prestigepets.co.uk

They look like a very easy construction.  If the pennies are important and you are able to run a stitch why not try making your own.  It could easily be remnant size and any fabric that holds water would do.  Of course the better it holds the less you have to rewet it.
There are many dog coat patterns to be found on the internet and it doesn't have to be fit for the cat walk (or dog walk :))

I have these ones http://www.drydogcoats.co.uk/Index.php/cool-coats.html. My dogs were measured at a show and then they were posted to me a few days later. They were about £33 each for my Dogues de Bordeaux.

Following a discussion on here I bought mine from Kool Coats and I'm very pleased with it.  Typically not had to use it much since, but...   !!
