Topic Dog Boards / Health / Hair regrowth on possible scar tissue

About 3 weeks ago my bitch had an allergic reaction to something, I think she'd had her nose in some nettles by the look of her. Nasty looking hives etc, she kept rubbing her face on the carpet making them bleed etc. All scabbed over and gradually improved after antibiotics and a short course of steroids.
Fast forward 3 weeks, all healed up nicely, but she now has a large bald patch on her nose!

Please tell me this hair will grow back!

Might or might not........so much depends on how bad it was. I'm quite fascinated by the number of dogs in my breed we see at shows with bald bits on their faces -scars. It's particularly obvious in the black ones! I do have one bitch who has a scar close to one ear where the fur never grew back, but I also have two dogs that had quite big wounds on their faces and the fur did grow back -but in white instead of brown. And finally I have one where the fur grew back and in the right colour too! (I should perhaps add that here we have a breed that can play quite rough, and always play bite around neck and face when playing, so all these wounds in faces aren't all from fights -but often just accidents when playing!)

Get some EPO capsules, pierce the capsule and rub a bit of the oil on the affected area and stick the rest down her throat. I would imagine that kind of wound would grow back eventually. Fingers crossed.

My dog took quite a scraping off his nose and it bled quite badly at the time.  It healed but obviously being new skin it was pink, but after a few weeks, his natural colour of pigmentation on his nose has returned and you wouldnt know he'd done anything now. :)

Her skin is pink anyway, so not too worried about pigment, just want a bit of fur on it. It's the bit that's supposed to be furry, the first half inch or so after the nose.

I'd prefer it to grow back the same colour, but a white marking there would be acceptable under the breed standard!!
