First time I'm booking a last minute holiday (going next week :) )

There seems to be huge differences in prices between different websites and with slow internet connection, it is taking me ages to load pages only to get ridiculous prices come up...
Any recommendations on which sites I could look at for a bargin?
Expedia seems to be the top one at the moment out of the ones I have looked at...
Thinking of going to Greece or one of the irelands there...

you could try teletext.co.uk i've heard they have bargains , also my hubbys work colleague got a last minute at the local travel agents , much cheaper than online i couldn't believe it but its true , £128 all inclusive to lanzarote and that was eveything in with 4 days to go

I've used cheapflights.com in the past, but I am assured by the son of a friedn of mine that if you really want cheap and are not fussed where you go, try turning up at the airport on the day--he has done this a few times and got some dirt cheap flights.

I've booked a few holidays last minute and I've found the cheapest to be within about 72 hours of your flight, before that and the companies work on you needing to book, after that they are the ones desperate for the booking.  If you have the patience (and the guts) i'd suggest waiting a few more days, especially if you are not too picky about destination. It can also help to play around with departure airports, an extra hours drive can save you money as can flying into a different airport to your departure airport. I have also found great deals at travel agents, and they seem to be able to do better searches than the websites.

Build you holiday yourself instead of a package.  We booked with Alpha rooms for both Paris and Spain and the stays were fab and then we booked with a low-cost, no-frills airline.  Then got our own airport transfers too.  Saved a fortune.
