Hi all my medium sized bitch is on day 52 of her pregnancy. This is her 1st litter and at least 6 puppies could be seen when scanned. This morning she has started producing milk, how soon before labour starts do dogs normally produce milk. She has slowed down alot over last few days has started nesting a bit in her whelping area.

My girl came into milk about 11 days before her due date.For my breed anything between 2weeks and a week.But all dogs are slightly different.

mine are around  a week before . as Cornish says all dogs are slighlty different.

Thanks for the reply just got a bit panicky I think because when my other girl who is the same breed had her litter her milk came in just 24hrs before delivery.

same here none of my girls have had milk that early before due dates x

Well day 55 and still no sign of puppies so at least if she holds on till tomorrow we are at the safe time.xx

Hi her official due date is wednesday, the last few nights been unsettled and wee'd and poo'd in the house which she doesn't do so hope things are going in the right direction. Going to check her temp later and will let you know.xx

My girl's also due on wednesday but don't think she make it that long as she won't eat anyting today & is just laying there feeling sorry for herself. A few sleepless nights for me now!!

We now have runs and lots of mucus discharge and walking around squatting when outside so going to be a sleepless night and I can wait!!!

Ooh tonights the night then. 

Watch her carefully when squatting outside,one member recently missed a pup born outside for 5 hours,surprisingly it did survive.

She is now properly pushing and has what looks like 2 fluid sacs coming out next to each other, is this normal?

She is now settle with puppies so think that is her, she has had 5 but sadly one has went to heaven despite working on it for 90 mintues.

Congrats,now for some sleepless nights,at least I could share mine with my daughter who was home from college.
