i have been talking to a friend who said someone she knows is getting a cocker spaniel pups at 6 weeks old with 1st vaccination. well for one i would never let y pups go at 6 weeks of age and my vets wont vaccinate until 8 weeks of age. The new owner said....(nicki is the breeder)
I've discussed it with Nicki & as long as they are weaned, vet checked and vaccinated to leave their mum at 6 weeks is fine... Mum is no longer feeding them. It used to be that pups could not be vaccinated until 8 weeks but that has changed to 6 weeks and their vet would not pass them as fit to leave if they were too young.
What do you all think as i think it is wrong.
thanks
Vac courses starting a 6 weeks been around for years,2nd vac still can't be given until 10 weeks though so no early socialisation is possible. Agree that sounds like breeder can't be bothered. Although guide pups are taken away at 6 weeks to socialise them onto humans, but still prefer at least 7 weeks although depends on bitch and on litter mates for me, will watch my pup to see when is best time to take away.
