Hi - I'm a new  poster but I've been an observer for years.
My dog has hives. After much thinking of possible causes I think it may be a reaction to rimadyl. She was prescribed this for her bad leg. She has only been taking this for a few days but I can't think of anything else that is new.

Has anyone else experienced this?  I have to say that I am a bit wary of this drug from what i've been reading about it. I do realise that most drugs have side effects and the articles I read are quite old - but i will go back to the vet on Monday.

That's the is the best thing to do :)

My boxer came out with hives quite bad last year, I at first put down to bad hay fever but when he had them in the winter I noticed he flared up a few days after I was at a dog show & sprayed his coat with some shine spray - so I stopped using any products from December and he was fine until Crufts(March) when some one else prepared him for the ring when I was in a class, low & behold he came out in hives that evening.

If you can rule out anything applied to him externally, be it a shampoo, spray, even a new soap power or softener etc then it may be a reaction to the new drugs
