Quick question - Can anyone register a puppy or does it have to be the breeder?

Only the breeder can register a pup/ dog though anyone can do it on the activity register I believe.

Unless things have changed in the last 5 years, as has been said, only the breeder can register a dog as pedigree but if you only want the working register then you have to say you don´t know the parentage of the dog.  I had to do this for one of mine as his breeder would only sell him without papers but I couldn´t do KC agility unless he was registered.  I never did know my little dog´s posh (pedigree) name.
