My MIL is in hospital and the family have been talking about getting some cleaners in to do a proper 'spring clean'. Has anyone had a firm in & what aprox. was the cost?

Oo er, tread with care, it is a nice idea but may be seen a criticism of her housekeeping or interference. Do not think this should be undertaken without including the MIL in the conference.

I'd be thrilled, especially my oven but I agree that some of the older generation might not be too chuffed :(

You obviouisly know your mil and what she would like. Me I would be over the moon but please remember the ironing too :)
- By WolfieStruppi [gb] Date 02.08.11 10:41 UTC
I would be ecstatic too especially the ironing! I know MIL wouldn't mind, she can't do all the heavy stuff herself (& a lot less now after a broken hip) it's all the heavy duty stuff really that needs doing.

MInd wolfs we arnt coming up with the answer to your question. Personally if starting from scratch I would look at the local residence magazines if there is one local papers and get afeel for them by phone. maybe even a little clean to try someone out if it is afforable. Sometimes you seen vans around outside peoples hosues maybe knock on a door. Dont know where you are  but there is amolly maid franchise around here that has been going for a while know idea about them I had the most wonderful private cleaner for 10 years worth her weight in gold then she moved to the midlands. I even suggested I would pay her trainfare once a week lol but now I am back to diy !

What you really need is local people giving you recommendations as trust plays a big part with a cleaner.

I pay ten pounds per hour for my cleaner. Companies specialising in cleaning will be more per hour .

I'm not going to pay a cleaner more than I get myself!
- By Lea Date 02.08.11 20:15 UTC
I suppose it depends on if they provide their own cleaning equipment. :)

We charge double that,(but in lincolnshire) but provide all out own equipment, petrol etc along with out time :) :)
Lea :)~ :)
