Topic Dog Boards / Showing / European judging system

I'm sure it's fairly basic but could someone please explain what the abbreviations are on the results list of a european show.

The dogs placed 1 - 4 have V1 - V4 respectively, then the unplaced dogs all have a V beside them apart from one, listed last who has SG3. Now I'm guessing this is like an 'excellent' grading? But what is the SG3?

Thanks muchly.

Here is an example of the letters I'm wondering about.

The first class, junior dog - the winner is V1 but 2nd - 4th are SG2 - 4?
In the open dog class the first four are V1 - V4, followed by four unplaced dogs that are all V, then one that is SG?

I can't remember the German word V is short for but SG is sehr gut meaning very good. Sure someone will be along with full details

Found it

V for the VDH system = excellent (Vorzüglich)
SG = sufficiently good (Sehr Gut)

They place 1 - 4 then the rest are shown in order of all V, then the SG, the lower grades if need be.  But the placings after the first 4 are not a reflection on say the fimal 6 cut in the class as they are listed either in ring number oreder or alphabetially.

OK I see what you mean SG3 - the first in the class was graded a V, but it was the only V in the class so the subsequent placings of SG are in order, so SG2 was 2nd, and SG3 rd.  Only V can challenge for the CAC / CACIB if offered.

SG = sufficiently good (Sehr Gut)

Surely that is Very Good, as it goes Excellent, Very Good, Good, Sufficient and sehr means very. :)
