Sorry this is revolting but................anyone know about cleaning 5 month old blood stains?#

Everytime I walk over the the site of my broken leg fall I am reminded of the fall by the blood stain......it is a dark patch approx 12"x6".
I thought I would have to live with it til I replaced the whole carpet.
The carpet is dark blue so doesn't look to ghoulish unless you know.

No...but I will now thank you :)
My husband did what he could whilst I was in hospital and I just left it at that, now its starting to bug me.

Try washing with a solution of Bio liquid and water, and then soak with Simple Solution.   It may need a couple or three goes at it, allowing to dry completely between each application.  This has worked for me twice in the past on a completely man-made fibre carpet

Simple Solution is a neutralising liquid for pet smells and stains, but it has been amazing at removing some more obscure stains... It has also removed a huge ink stain made from a burst fountain pen   :-)

Blimey I never knew Simple Solution removed stains! Must try. We use it when cleaning the cats litter trays, they never smell really clean otherwise.

It's also great for getting out blood stains if your in season bitch jumps on your cream bedding. Grrr!!

Thanks for that. I shall tell my mum as she currently has visitors with an in season bitch who has slept on her bed! Posh duvet cover and all that! Mum not impressed!

COLD water on blood stains, nevereverever hot water, it 'cooks' the blood in and then you really wont shift the mark.

I got a LOT of blood (mine) out of Mothers off white sofa cushions, just by soaking and rinsing repeatedly in cold water. Carpet is harder as it to really rinse it out you need to soak it and then it goes into the underlay. If you can, lift the carpet and get something underneath so you are washing it through, out to whatevers underneath (old towels) then thats much better but obviously its not always possible to do.

Once you have rinsed and rinsed and rinsed, pat dry as best you can (old towel and then jump up and down on it), then bicarb of soda, or salt.. dump that on and cover with a towel and leave it to dry then vacuum off, that should pull the rest out.
