I am thinking of buying  one of these brushes and would like to ask if anyone has tried them and what you think of them. It is for a wooly coat that mats badly and sensitive skin. Maybe you have a different make that you could recommend....

I got the red one at Crufts from Redcape 3 years ago, think it's great on a lot of big coats, and easy on the wrists.

What one is it exactly you looked at?   Not the mat Zapper? is it for generally drying etc?

I have 4 different ones, the Matt Zapper is good for knots used with extreme care. I read some disasters on grooming forums ...

Being honest I still go back to the black handled Medium Mikki Slicker brush.. I bought the Les Pooch silver, gold and green for different breeds and fluff dryng but still prefer the Mikki.. I was at a grooming seminar recently and in the circle I was talking in they all seem to share the same opinion on the Mikki.

Just had a general look but think it would be for drying and a groom in between baths. after reading your post I think I will try the Mikki first.

Do you find it pulls out much coat?

I think if you are going to buy one it has to be the double one as they are just too small. The normal soft mikki slicker I think is better for fluff drying.   \i have tried as people we raving about them but personally I don't rate any one of them except the matt Zapper. The double one is nearly £40 I think.

I still have my boxes so may stick them on e-bay LOL

Which of the colours would you use on a Standard poodle, would the small one be any use for armpit area and between legs?

I still think the double one for a standard. The small ones are Ok for the smaller dogs.   Try the Mikki :-D

What shampoo did you try? So many good ones.  Can't remember your dog breed.

Edited just noticed you said standard poodle.  "The Stuff" conditioner is good for the poodles.

MD10 is the shampoo, I also got a sample of the conditioner which you leave in and thought her coat looked and felt great. It was not very soapy but still had good results.
